Marine Corps base in Hawaii comes under fire to remove sign
A non-profit group, Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), is demanding that a sign on a military base in Hawaii be taken down under the premise that it is “a brazen violation of the No Establishment clause of the Constitution”. It contends that this sign elevates one faith over another faith and should be moved to the chapel grounds or removed altogether.
Maybe we’re not as enlightened as the MRFF, but we can’t see where this sign says ‘unless you believe in God you won’t get a raise or a promotion.’
This sign was erected in response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. It has been up for over a decade. Why is it suddenly offensive to this group?
Clearly this is not a message meant to attack atheist beliefs. Its an affirmation of faith.
This complaint is just absurd. We say:
IF YOU DON’T STAND BEHIND OUR MILITARY, FEEL FREE TO STAND IN FRONT OF THEM!
