Likewise, its well known that Chuck Norris had a successful military career. It was in Korea that Airman Norris mastered the martial arts.
We’re also probably all familiar with the story of how Jimi Hendrix joined the Army rather than serve time in jail.
But did you know that Playboy millionaire Hugh Heffner served during WWII? Or that Ice-T enlisted because he was headed for a life of crime?

Ice-T credits the birth of his daughter with quitting a life of drugs and joining the army: “when I had my daughter I was like, man, I’m going to go to jail, I got to do something, and I went to an enlistment office.” Ice-T then spent four years in Hawaii working for the Army.

Johnny Carson used to entertain the troops with magic and comedy acts during World War II. He was a shipman on the USS Pennsylvania in the Pacific Ocean.
3. Johnny Cash
Johnny Cash served in the Air Force from 1950-1954 as a radio operator. He was actually the first radio operator to carry the news of Joseph Stalin’s death. Whoa.
4. Hugh Hefner
Hugh Hefner was actually involved in World War II. In 1944 after graduating high school, Hef enlisted in the Army as an infantry clerk, but he also contributed cartoons to various military newspapers — and got his start in publishing during this time
